What a gorgeous shoot to start 2019! I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing MTV Teen Mom UK's Sassi and her beautiful daughter Zena'ya and it was so much fun. We met at Sassi's home in Manchester with my beautician friend Lizzie. The MTV camera crew were there and filmed the morning of Sassi getting ready for her shoot with Lizzie. Whilst the cameras rolled I sat with little Zena'ya, eating sweets, watching Mummy get glam :-) Once everybody was ready we headed to a beautiful park nearby and I captured some natural, gorgeous images of them both together. Here are a selection of my favourites from the day . . . I really enjoyed this photoshoot (as always!), I loved meeting Sassi and loved how down-to-earth and lovely she was and photographing little Zena'ya who was a total rockstar throughout. It was a freezing January afternoon but it didn't affect this little lady at all :-) I will end this blog post with one of my faves of Zena'ya, giving us the sassiest pose I've ever seen from a two year old haha . . . This was by far one of my favourite weddings I have ever photographed. It was just. so. fun! From the huge TV screen placed in the gardens so that the guests could watch England win one of the World Cup matches, to the hilarious surprise 'Dirty Dancing' routine, the day was filled with joy and laughter. It was the height of summer, the sun was shining and it was looking like it was going to be another clear, hot day. I met Anna at her sister Jess's house to document the bridal preparations. Makeup artist Lucy (@BridalbyLucy) and hair stylist Jonquil (JQ Hair) were already there, preparing the girls for the day ahead . . Meanwhile the groomsmen got ready at a hotel in York, near by to the church where they were about to marry . . . The ceremony was held at a beautiful church in Heworth, York. After the ceremony took place the guests all threw confetti for the newlyweds and then began their journey to Scampston Hall wedding venue. Anna wanted to visit her family members headstones in Dunnington, to lay flowers for her loved ones who couldn't be there on her wedding day. The three of us went there, I stepped back and documented it as it naturally happened, capturing the emotions and the love between the newlyweds. The reception was held at Scampston Hall, it is a stunning country house in North Yorkshire with the most beautiful gardens and grounds, it's well worth a visit in Spring and Summer if you haven't been before, it really is a stunning place. The sun was shining and the guests were already at the venue when we arrived, enjoying a drink in the gardens, awaiting the start of the World Cup England football match which was playing on a big screen by Media Displays. As the wedding party and guests relaxed I took lots of natural images as the day unfolded... Singer Rachel Croft sang beautiful acoustic songs during the course of the afternoon. I have photographed numerous weddings where Rachel has been the singer and she is fantastic, she has such a gorgeous voice, I would really recommend her for those looking for some dreamy live music for their special day. The guests enjoyed the speeches and wedding breakfast in the marquee (a beautiful, large marquee provided by Will's Marquees) There were little personal touches throughout the marquee, such as special framed photographs, flowers and of course the beautiful wedding cake made by Bridezillas Cakes. As the guests entered the marquee to prepare for the speeches I walked over to the table with this little lady, I had my camera in my hand and she just stared at me like this, haha, I love her little expression! What a cutie :-) We headed into the beautiful gardens for some Bride + Groom portraits. I also wanted to capture the beauty of Anna's flowers, her bouquet featured some gorgeous grey-toned roses called 'Earl Grey Roses', I absolutely loved them! Her florist was Flowers at the Barn for those who are looking for beautiful flowers for their wedding :-) We also walked through the gardens to the beautiful bridge to capture some family and wedding party portraits. I can't express how much I loved this venue! So many beautiful little spots for photography . . . On the evening the newlyweds cut their cake and then surprised their guests with an amazing surprise performance, the 'Dirty Dancing' dance routine, where Wubbsy played the part of Baby and Anna was a brilliant Patrick Swayze! There was so many laughs it was so fun! I absolutely loved this day, it was full of laughter and a wedding I will always remember (thanks to that dance routine haha!)
Thank you so much Anna + Wubbsy for asking me to document your day. If you are interested in me photographing your wedding please feel free to contact me, I would love to hear from you! Sophie xxx I was so excited for this one. My first wedding of 2018 at the gorgeous venue The Talbot in Malton. Do you remember all of that snow in the UK in March? That was a week or so before this day, I kept checking the weather app daily, hoping that by the wedding date the snow will have subsided and hopefully the sun will make an appearance. I must have not been the only one to wish this as thankfully the weather took a turn and it was a beautiful, fresh Spring weather when the day arrived. I had been excited ever since Stacie told me her plans of the day, the decor and styling sounded amazing and I couldn't wait to photograph it. I shall begin where the day began, at Stacie's Mum's house where the bridal party began their preparations for the big day . . . Fraser and his grooms men were already at the venue. I had a wonderful second shooter with me for this wedding and she met Fraser there and captured some groom prep as I travelled from Copmanthorpe to Malton. This is the beauty of having two photographers, nothing gets missed! :-) When I arrived I went to view the venue and marquee which looked breathtaking. I had visited it previously to see it with Stacie so I knew what to expect, but with her styling and details it looked incredible. As Stacie and her family arrived at the venue I captured lots of candid moments, I like to capture the day as it unfolds, capturing the details and emotions as they naturally happen. The Ceremony took place in the marquee, it was beautiful and romantic and I could feel the joy and happiness in the room. Their faces say it all. As the guests relaxed in the marquee and building we went for a wander through the grounds to take some portraits of the newlyweds. (no snow yay!) It was a lovely walk and nice for them to both spend some time with one another just catching up on their days so far. The meal and evening reception was held in the marquee, there was all sorts of fun throughout the evening, such as a vintage Photo Booth that the guests LOVED, a live band that the guests LOVED, a Gin table full of gin-tastic goodies, you guessed it, the guests loved that too! (wouldn’t we all?!)
Thank you so much Stacie + Fraser for asking me to capture your beautiful day. It really was stunning and such a fantastic start to my wedding season! If you are interested in your own wedding photography please contact me, I would love to hear from you and discuss your plans. Thank you x Ahh, Santorini! Such a dreamy destination. This was my second wedding in Santorini and I couldn't wait to step foot onto the island again. Adrienne + Matthew's wedding was to take place at the famous Santorini Gem Wedding Venue and I was so excited. The views from the venue are incredible (in fact, the view from pretty much anywhere in Santorini are incredible) The wedding party were all getting ready in a beautiful apartment complex, the bridal party in one apartment and the grooms men further away, around the corner, out of sight in another apartment, which was great for me and my friend/fellow photographer as we didn't have too far to travel between both parties so we could photograph both bridal and groom preparations! We arrived in the morning and began capturing the day as it unfolded . . . Heading over to the grooms men, we captured the details there too . . . As the time for the ceremony approached we drove to the Santorini Gem venue. Believe it or not, it actually rained on the morning of this wedding. Apparently it was the first day it had rained during wedding season in Santorini for four years! After a couple of hours it blew away and the skies started to brighten up just in time for the ceremony, much to everyone's joy! After the beautiful ceremony we drove to a beautiful location up towards the top of the island to take some couple portraits. We also drove to Thira town which is stunning, the views from there are amazing. The venue was decorated with soft grey and white tones. I love capturing the details, the little pieces that make the day personal and unique to the couple. And of course, with it being a wedding in the summer of 2018, there was plenty of 'dabbing' which I just had to capture! Another beautiful wedding photographed and a wonderful opportunity to see some more of the world.

I am based in York, North Yorkshire and travel all over the UK and abroad for destination weddings and have a real passion for capturing moments as they naturally unfold and capturing the beauty and details of precious wedding days. I understand the importance of weddings and have a relaxed, non-intrusive approach which I believe creates the best imagery. If I had to sum up this wedding day in one word, it would simply be beautiful. It was a fresh spring day at St Tewdricks House in Chepstow. Capturing the stunning venue, the crisp white and green details and the blush bridal party tones, it was like a dream wedding. Victoria, her gorgeous daughter Evie and her bridal party all got ready in one of the many beautifully lit, light and airy bedrooms in the house. As the ceremony took place in the beautiful ceremony room at the venue, a wonderful singer sang love songs as the guests awaited the brides arrival. The room was decorated with fresh flowers and white details such as soft bows and classic white wooden chairs (my fave!) After the ceremony we captured some portraits of the guests and family and also candid moments throughout the house and gardens. There were two wedding cakes, one beautiful book cake based around Victoria's love of writing and one surprise Patriots cake for Patrick and his family which went down brilliantly! It started to lightly rain outside but this was no problem at all at a venue as beautiful as this one. The huge floor to ceiling windows in the spacious wood-floored rooms were the perfect setting for bride and groom portraits. I'm sure you will agree the white walls and simplistic, stylish furniture were the perfect setting for some romantic images of the newlyweds. The evening reception took place in the ceremony room which had been moved around so it had a perfect space for the First Dance and for the guests to dance the night away . . . Thank you Victoria + Patrick for a beautifully memorable day.

I had dabbled in wedding photography but had always found it quite daunting, looking back it was probably a mixture of not having enough confidence and also not being fully equipped and prepared for the curveballs wedding days can throw at you. It had been a couple of years since my last wedding and they were becoming a faded memory. Until this day. The day of Sally + Pete's wedding. So, I'll set the scene. It's Saturday morning and I am at home with my two and five year old, surrounded by the usual Mum-chaos that fills the weekend; when I get a call from my cousin, Claire. "Sophie, are you free? I am a bridesmaid at Sally's wedding and her photographer has arrived and he is so ill, he's being sick and can't photograph her day! Can you help?!" I looked around the room, the kid chaos, my mind quickly thinking about my camera batteries and if they were charged, how was I going to get to Harrogate? Who would watch my children? Whatever the answers were to my quick thoughts I knew I was going to photograph the day, I couldn't possibly not do it knowing they didn't have a photographer to capture their memories. Within half an hour I was driving down the A59 heading to Rudding Park in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to photograph the wedding of a couple I had never met before. I was so nervous. When I arrived I was filled in on all of the morning's events and quickly got to work, as most of her bridal preparations had already taken place. I was quickly reminded how much I love capturing details and all things pretty . . . (click on each individual image for the full image) Little did I know at the time, that the images I was about to take were going to be shared, viewed and liked over 30,000 times. It was the moment that Sally put her dress on and showed her bridesmaids for the first time. It was their reaction that was shared and loved, still to this day it is one of my favourite images I have ever taken. The moment was followed by another one of my favourites, Sally's Dad entering the gardens to see her. So many emotions! And with that, the one hour so far photographing this beautiful wedding, my LOVE for wedding photography began. Capturing moments like this, capturing the details and telling the story of the day through photography to me is AMAZING! After the bridal party wiped all their happy tears away they headed to the beautiful church at Rudding Park. The ceremony was filled with joy, laughter and a whole lot of love. After the ceremony the guests headed outside to catch up with one another and also to get some portraits together. The grounds of the venue were beautiful, there was lots of little spots for photography. I loved capturing Sally with each of her bridesmaids and capturing the joy and laughter as the day unfolded. We went for a little wander around the building for some Bride + Groom portraits. So thank you fate for leading me here on this gorgeous day. Thank you Sally + Pete for giving me the opportunity to capture something so life and career changing for me.
If this day hadn't have happened I honestly know I wouldn't be a wedding photographer now, as I believed before that it wasn't 'for me'. Now I know, it totally is for me. Capturing emotions, details, love, pretty dresses and decor, candid moments, it makes my heart happy and it's where my passion lies. This is where my journey began and since this wedding I have had many more each of which I will blog here over the next few months. Ive photographed weddings in some of the world's most beautiful destinations and had my work published in magazines and newspapers. It's been a crazy journey so far and I love it.
